Access To Education

We are currently working with three schools in Zimbabwe. The first school is located in Masvingo province in rural Bikita area. The second school is located in Mashonaland East province in Macheke which is a farming community. The third school is in Mashonaland west province in Mhangura which is a former mining town.

All the three communities have significant numbers of disadvantaged and vulnerable kids who struggle to find sustainable support for their education needs. All the 60 kids (20 from each school) were based on the basis of need through a process that was jointly done with school authorities and our community coordinators.

Once a kid gets into the scholarship program, it gets renewed every year until they complete the primary school level (elementary and middle school). We believe that designing the scholarship program with perpetuity in mind is a practical way to truly give a chance for recipients to unlock their potential. We also have two students in the program with one of the biggest universities in Zimbabwe. The scholarship program will continue to grow with additional enrollments at the beginning of each school year. The number of participating schools will also be increasing with time with priority given to disadvantaged and vulnerable kids.

Special Needs Organizations

We are currently working with a special needs children’s home located in Harare province in the city of Harare.

About 30 kids are at the home with varying needs such as educational, clothing, food and other daily living necessities. We provide financial and or in-kind support on an ongoing basis.

Access to Clean Water

Lack of running water is common in rural and semi-urban areas in Zimbabwe. Unfortunately this is associated with water-borne diseases and various other public health challenges.

We will be working with schools and communities where we have a presence to help with increasing access to clean water. This may include drilling boreholes or supporting other proven sustainable approaches.

Problem Areas We Cover

Our three inaugural schools are either those where our founders went to or are located in communities where our founders grew up in.

While we currently cover areas near and dear to our founders’ hearts, as we grow and expand, so to will our capacity for supporting other local communities and beyond.

JewelRide Classic - Public Fundraising

JewelRide Classic is an annual golf tournament held in summer in the Edwardsville, IL area. It is 100% sponsored by JewelRide but participants are given the opportunity to make contributions. Companies are also given the opportunity to sponsor holes. JewelRide matches all donations and sponsorships on a dollar for dollar basis. All raised funds are donated to T and R Philanthropies. This is the only public fundraiser activity for T and R Philanthropies.

The golf tournament is an opportunity for the community to have fun in a scramble format, learn about T and R Philanthropies’ programs and be a force of good. We chose a golf tournament after realizing that it is an activity that can easily bring the community together in a friendly, professional and progressive environment. We are excited to partner with our anchor sponsor for this tournament, JewelRide.
